Borrow from another library

Our library is connected to other libraries throughout the state and nation. If you can't find an item in this library, ask library staff to help you get it from another library.

You can come into the library or over the phone to make a request and you need a Van Horne library card number. We ask a $3.00 (three dollar) donation for each request to help defray the cost of shipping. Materials on inter-library loan can be kept for one month, we can ask for a renewal but that is up to the lending library. If books are returned late there may be a fine incurred from the lending library, rates vary. There is no consequence for not picking up an item but if this were to happen twice we would need the $3.00 (three dollar) donation in advance of ordering from then on.

This is a great service because not every library can have every book, so you don't have to think you cannot read a particular book. In the event that what you are asking for could be a very old edition, we may not be able to get it, but it is worth trying.
